For a week in June, 33 of the 7th grade Spanish students and seven chaperones traveled around Cuba on an educational tour. In June 2014, Oksana Deinak-Pingitore, Spanish teacher at Vassal Lane Upper School, decided to take as many students as possible to Cuba to show them her culture and homeland. She was determined that everyone could go, regardless of their ability to pay for this once-in-a-life-time trip. She brought together students and parents to share her dream and then inspired the group to make it a reality.
