Friends of Vassal Lane: Building Community, Empowering Our Youth
Friends of Vassal Lane Upper School, Inc. (FoVLUS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded by parents and caretakers in spring 2014 to enhance educational activities and foster community spirit at Vassal Lane Upper School. In collaboration with staff, FoVLUS supports activities and initiatives the school would otherwise be unable to fund.
FoVLUS
- Supports community events, such as International Night, musical coffeehouses, and pot-lucks
- Supports cultural and artistic programs at the school, such as orienteering, the SEI Butterfly Project, and Rock Band concert
- Offers teacher grants for materials and resources to enhance the curriculum
- Supports the annual 8th-grade trip and 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade field trips
- Hosts a Spring Fundraiser for parents and caretakers
- Sends an annual fundraising appeal
- Writes grant proposals
- Funds the Peik Larson and Madvhi Patel Memorial Scholarships for eighth-graders
- Sells VLUS Vipers sprit gear, such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, and beanies
FoVLUS is an all-volunteer organization. We meet in the library once a month during the school year. All parents and caregivers are welcome. Please join us and help build our school community.
