Vassal Lane Debate Team Competes at Brandeis University
Posted on 11/26/2014

On November 8th, Vassal Lane had the honor of participating in its first debate competition at Brandeis University. The event was sponsored by the Boston Debate League. We were represented by 8 students (noted below) and three volunteer coaches: Regina Holloway, Nathaniel McLeroy, and Frank Cooper. The competition consisted of students from schools all over the city of Boston and Cambridge.

Although this was our first tournament and our students had never competed before, we proved that we could hold our own in a league full of experienced debaters. Three of our individual debaters and one of our teams won awards. This was a huge accomplishment considering our experience level and with only three practices under our belt.

If you see any of these wordplay warriors, please congratulate them. Placed or not, these eight students exemplified a tremendous amount of courage and passion by trying something new and excelling.
