Staffing Update

Dear Vassal Lane Community,
As summer draws to a close, I am writing to share a difficult staffing update with you. Madhvi Patil, our 7th grade science teacher, has recently been diagnosed with cancer. In order to receive treatment, Madhvi will be taking a leave this fall. We will all feel her absence in school, and our thoughts are with her and her family during this time. Madhvi is disappointed not to be at school this fall, and was eager for a great year. She sends her best wishes and hopes to the Vassal Lane community for an exciting start to a new school year.
For some in our community, this news may trigger unusual sadness or more involved questions, and support will be available at school for students who need a place to work through these feelings. Due to the recent nature of Madhvi’s diagnosis, hiring for her substitute is still underway, but we anticipate it will be completed soon. Please know that the 7th Grade Team and the Science department are working together to support the 7th graders as the year launches, and will continue to support students throughout the year.
