Wow! Can you believe this is our last newsletter for the school year? Our faculty and students have worked really hard all year. This is a well-deserved vacation. Please have a happy, healthy, safe summer! See you in September!

In social studies, sixth graders continue to research, take notes, and illustrate their Egypt-Greece poem scrolls. After watching a video about Athens and Sparta, students considered and debated the pros and cons of each city-state. For example, while women had no rights in either society, military-minded Sparta allowed women to own property and speak up. Athens made rich through trading, and the labor of women and enslaved people saw the beginnings of a more democratic government. Students' scrolls are beginning to take shape!

For the end-of-year field trip, students will be going bowling at Boston Bowl, in Dorchester, on Friday, June 14. Please return your child's permission slip and money. We appreciate any extra donations to support all students.

In math, Students are working on "Race in Math "project. The project goal is to promote racial equity in my math class. We will start with some conversation around race and culture. Each student will create a presentation around the country of origin that he/she affiliated to. Sightseeing, food and mathematical inventions will be the themes of those presentations. Students will have the opportunity to present their fabulous work to their peers and parents.

6th grade science students have completed a project called "Science in the News." Students choose an article that described some science event this month. They created a poster or slide show which was on display in the classroom. Some students presented their information. Students have made great progress in their ability to research and present information. Enjoy the summer!
