VLUS position? Student Support

Where did you attend College (and what is your degree(s)? I went to UMass Amherst, and I double majored in Psychology and Economics.

Who was your favorite teacher and why? My favorite teacher was Lynn Brown at King Open. Although she could be intimidating, everything Lynn did was because she cared about her students as people, and wanted to see us grow into our best selves. Even when she was hard on us, she made sure we always knew how much she cared.

Favorite part of the job? I love being able to help young people learn who they are, and how they can grow into the person they want to be. Growing up is not easy, and I’m incredibly happy to be able to play a part in the development of such amazing youth.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I would love to do research into how people make decisions. The way people process information and how we decide which choices to make is just so cool.

Do you have children? No, not yet.

Do you have pets? No, not anymore, but I have had cats and a dog.

Favorite color? I love dark shades of green.

Do you have a favorite Quote or Saying? It often feels like life is putting a lot of pressure on us to be great at everything, and this always helps me regain some perspective. "And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good." -John Steinbeck

Where is the farthest place you have ever traveled? The farthest place I have been to is Barbados.

Favorite food? It's a toss up between mangoes and grapes. I love fruits.

Hobbies or Activities/organizations you are active in? I play in a bunch of social sports leagues: kickball, volleyball, dodgeball...

Accomplishments or Honors you have achieved that you are proud of? During my first job working with youth, I was awarded Staff of the Week, and got a star shaped sticky note with kind words from my directors... I still have it taped to my bedroom mirror.
