Last month, VLUS partnered with Cradles to Crayons to kick off our very first Day of Service. Throughout the month, students engaged in conversations about empathy, gratitude, and giving. We charged students, families, and teachers to look in closets, drawers, and shelves for like-new clothes and books to donate to children in need. Wow! Did you answer our call! Together, our community collected thousands of book and clothing items. That’s two vans full. THANK YOU!
In the name of a good cause... and pizza, advisories competed to collect the most books and clothes. Congratulations to the following winning advisories:
Most Books Collected
Ms. Barber and Ms. Babbage, 6th grade
Ms. Oksana, 7th grade
Ms. Riley/Ms. LaPointe, 8th grade
Most Clothes Collected
Ms. Barenholtz, Ms. Havelin/Ms. Larose, 6th grade
Ms. Ruse, 7th grade
Ms. Steward and Ms. O'Brien, 8th grade
On November 22, students, teachers, and Cradle to Crayons staff, sorted, inspected, and organized the donations. The school was buzzing with excitement!
After wrapping up the Drive, students and teachers participated in the annual Turkey Trot around the campus. Many students took home turkeys, pies, cider, t-shirts, and more. It was a joyful day full of purpose!
