VLUS Rock Band is going strong with four groups jamming out! Returning favorites The Trojan Donkeys are tackling Nirvana, Muse, and Led Zeppelin, while sixth grade newcomers, The Godly Topaz are getting a groove going with Wild Thing, Louie Louie, and an original song based on a driving bass riff by Olivia Orlik.

The 8th grade Friday super group are working on tunes by The Verve and the cold war classic "99 Red Balloons" integrating violins, vocals, synthesizers and rock-influenced guitars. While the 7th Grade band calling themselves The Greasers, paying hommage to classic literature (The Outsiders) and classic rock with their versions of Purple Haze, My Generation and Fortunate Son with inspired vocals by Seamus McGlennon.

If you hear this type of music echoing through the halls afterschool and it moves you, stop in and let the students know, it is an important musical tradition here at VLUS and it is going strong! Stay tuned for concert schedules and more updates from VLUS ROCK BAND.
