Vassal Lane's Talent Show: We've Got Talent!
By Peter Laskin
The
Vassal Lane Talent Show, held on the evening of March 27, was a huge
success, with its 21 acts drawing an enthusiastic full house. The mainly
musical performances ranged from an original play performed by a group
of 6th graders to several bands spanning all grades. Seventh grader
Oliver Saffery, who was in four acts with his band ADHD, had this to
say: “It was a pretty incredible experience.” Brian Gellerstein’s
musical and technical direction kept everything running smoothly and
ensured that the show went well. Lila Lifton, who performed the Imagine
Dragons song Radioactive on her violin as she “looped” said,
“It was thrilling.” JJ Gonson, mother of Oliver Saffery, said “I love
the talent show, and I am ever amazed at the level to which Mr.
Gellerstein helps the kids to go. We are all lucky to have such a great
music department helping the kids to realize their musical goals. Yay!”
The
two bands, The Beatless and ADHD, performed rock hits, while the
variety of other musical acts stretched from country fiddling to an
original piano composition. All in all, the VLUS Talent Show was a night
to remember.
