On
March 19, 2014, VLUS celebrated our science and math programs with VLUS
STEM Night. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics.
Madhvi Patil’s science singers opened the night with a collection of
science songs from the Science Oratorio, “Powers of Ten.” Many different
activities were set up, including a 3D printer, LEGO Mindstorms, trying
to make a helium-filled bag touch the ceiling, and a planetarium in the
gym. The night ended with talks from parents and teachers about their
STEM careers. STEM Night was a great opportunity for kids of all ages to
witness the uses of amazing technology. While the 3D printer made VLUS
logos out of plastic, students programmed Mindstorms NXT robots and
calculated their speeds. A good time was had by all at VLUS’ second STEM
Night.
